All About April -- the enigma, explained....
On the day that I was born (September 22, 1977) the angels got together
(in a small town named Godfrey in Southwestern Illinois) and decided to create a dream come true, so they sprinkled moon dust in my hair and golden starlight in my eyes of blue....
When I was 6 years old, we moved across the river to a suburb of St. Louis, MO called St. Charles . My older brother, Ryan, and I attended Becky-David Elementary School and the first few years of Barnwell Middle School before we picked up and moved to Matthews, NC just outside of Charlotte.
In Charlotte, I attended Carmel Junior High and Providence High School during which I worked as the best (albeit lowest paid) sandwich artist at Subway and later, as a technician for Walmart Pharmacy.
In 1995, I graduated from Providence and left Charlotte to pursue my higher education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. It was here that I joined the national co-ed fraternity of Phi Sigma Pi , Beta Delta chapter, which introduced me to some of the best friends of my life. After spending 2.5 years in First Year College, I tossed a coin and ended up fervently pursuing my major in Communication with a concentration in Disorders and minoring in Spanish. Si, es verdad! Also during this time, I worked as a Senior Staff Writer and Copy Editor at the NCSU student paper, The Technician , as well as returning to my former glory as a pharmacy technician, this time for the prestigous Kroger Pharmacy. I graduated from State in spring 1999 and since I wasn't ready for the real world, convinced myself that I needed to go on to grad school to get my masters degree.
In the fall of 1999, I moved to Greenville, NC to attend East Carolina University's graduate school of Allied Health in Communication Sciences and Disorders. After one semester of clincal patients, I realized I didn't want to do that for a living. I decided to switch degrees to the research aspect of the major, and by the time I realized that it, too, wasn't for me, I was almost finished with my degree. I attended commencement ceremonies in May of 2001 and officially graduated in July of 2001 after finishing my masters thesis, entitled "Speech Naturalness in Those Who Stutter While Under the Influence of Altered Auditory Feedback."
After graduating, I moved back to Raleigh and got a temporary job back at Kroger Pharmacy. When/If I ever get a real job, I plan on moving somewhere to do something. Nothing but the most specific goals for this gal! Things I would love to try include advertising, writing, photography, any aspect of the film or music industry, consulting, design or pretty much anything of a creative nature. My ideal job would either be event planning/concert design for U2's next tour, writing for a comedy show, directing music videos or becoming the female version of the multi-hatted (writing, casting, directing, producing, editing, sound-tracking, marketing) Cameron Crowe.
